  • Founded in 1841
  • Spread across seven interlocking buildings, with 17 miles of open access bookshelves and over one million books, the Library has played host to four Poet Laureates and 10 Nobel Prize winners.

This stunning venue hosts a key part of British history and makes for an impressive backdrop for a variety of events.

Offering stunning views across St James’s Square, double-height, book-lined walls and elegant ironwork balustrades the Reading Room is the main space for events and the heart of the London Library.

All income from hiring the venue is directed back into the conservation of the vast collection, the upkeep of the historic building and developing our learning and lecture programmes.
